Hailed as "Best New Restaurant -The Sunday Paper, May 2008" I had to go see for myself. So, last Sunday I checked it out. First of all, let me say I didn't recognize that part of North Highland. Wow! lots of money has been spent.
Parish claims "unique people, delicious food, good-for-the-earth goods and lively music now all come together in this melting pot of New Orleans’ vibrant culture within Inman Park".
I had The Sunflower Seed Salad and The Georgia Vegetable Plate. I have to say they were both brilliant. Especially the vegetables. The food was most definitely worth the trip. One of the misfortunes of being IN a service business is the curse of high expectations when BEING served. I always watch and try to learn; I hope someone from Parish takes the time to do the same soon. Except for a few, the majority of the floor staff were not into it all; ours especially. They seemed very engaged in something, it just wasn't the customers. So... go for the food, expecting it to be distinctive and creative. Just plan on asking for everything 2-3 times and not getting at least one of something at all, twice.
